I think it is fair that we start with who I am. My name is Devon Weber, and I am 29 years old. I was born with a condition (if I would even call it that) referred to as Cerebral Palsy. This left me wheelchair-bound as soon as it became apparent that walking wasn’t in my future by the age of 2. Does this make life difficult for me? Sure, sometimes… But what it has taught me at a very young age is that despite the cards we have been dealt, everyone is forced to adapt through adversity in one way or another. With this alone, I feel as though we are all alike more than we would like to admit at times.
Something you may not know about me is that at the very young age of 11, I was sure of one thing. I would one day see my name in lights while on stage, bringing my music to the world. So sitting here writing this at 29, with a whopping 17 monthly listeners on Spotify and the same thoughts and aspirations as before, you might be wondering what happened?
I want to preface this by saying, if you have a dream, and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt it is what you want to do, follow through. Don’t worry about what your family says, your friends say, your neighbors, or especially some very angry person on the internet. The short version of all this (we can get into greater detail later) is that I let too many people get into my head and influence what it was I felt I should spend my time on. Finding myself going to college for no reason, putting down my guitar and pen, and finding a “real job.”
Over the years, though I have avoided music, what I did learn was more valuable than I could have imagined. I took a left turn, but it was almost like it was something that I needed to do all along. Back in 2017, I stumbled across a guy named Russell Brunson who quite literally unlocked a world that I had no idea even existed.
This allowed me to embark on a marketing journey that I didn’t know I needed. Building websites for people, funnels, logos, you name it and I did it. This showed me the importance of a side of business that a lot of people lacked, a tool to bring awareness to who you are as a business and an individual. Whether a musician, contractor, actor, or Brick and Mortar business, these were tried and true essentials for brand awareness and success.
Here is the thing…
For a very long time, I believed that I had to choose. Either I was a musician or I was a marketer, there was no way to merge the two worlds. So the sequence went that I would often be in my season of marketing and funnel building or my season of making music but could never make them happen simultaneously.
So, this brings me back to the reason why I am here. I am officially giving myself permission to merge the two worlds of music and marketing, of the knowledge that I have to bring to the table. This means for the first time ever you are going to see both sides of Devon in one room.
If you prefer to just listen to my music and couldn't care less about what a funnel is, aside from the funnel you have in your kitchen, then you are in the right place.
If you are a musician like me, who might be wondering how you can take simple steps to market yourself beyond the average musician through funnels, sites, offers, and everything in between, you are also in the right place. This is my journey, and I am putting it on full display, and I am not going to hold anything back.
